The RAM is one of the few medium sized trucks in the US and it managed to keep itself on top with the help of clever technologies, good looks and great engines. The 2016 RAM 1500 is going to be the first year of a brand new model which means there will be improved engines, slightly more up to date design and also better interior that should now make happy not only the contractors but also the regular customers.
This 2016 model is set to be built until 2019 when the people from RAM Trucks are planning for a brand new 1500 model that will have almost nothing in common with this model. Until then though, this model will have to suffice. The price will range from slightly above $25,000 for the cheapest Regular Cab model up to as much as $55,000 for a fully equipped RAM with the most powerful engine in the range. Other cab versions like Quad Cab will start from $29,645 and $32,225 for Crew Cab version.
Let’s start with its interior and what improvements have been made for the 2016 RAM 1500. Firstly, the base model of the car will now include electric windows, air conditioning, a basic radio with no CD player but with USB connectivity which should come in handy. The more expensive models will include satellite navigation, automatic climate control, an infotainment system and even leather upholstery. There will also be two cameras, one for the front and one for the back that will help the driver when parking the car, towing loads and while off-roading.
2016 RAM 1500 Redesign
The exterior on the other hand will keep the basic truck shape with minor changes to the front and back of the car. Now, even the most basic model will receive color matching bumpers but there still won’t be alloy wheels. The top of the range models on the other hand will get either alloy wheels or steel rims wrapped in off-road tires, depending on the trim you’re getting. The back of 2016 RAM 1500 will have a dual exhaust system as standard, no matter the model allowing engine to breathe more easily.
The engines in the new 2016 RAM 1500 will most likely not change much and will range from a 3.6 liter V6 to a 5.7 liter V8 when it comes to gasoline powered models. There is also a high possibility for an even bigger 6.2 liter Hemi V8 that is said to develop in excess of 500 horsepower. The 3.6 liter will be available only on the lower end models and it will be capable of offering up to 305 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. The 5.7 liter V8 on the other hand will have its power boosted from 395 to 410 horsepower and the maximum torque from 410 to 415 lb-ft. Another great addition to the engine lineup is the 3.0 liter EcoDiesel with 240 hp and lots of torque, it will also provide best fuel economy by far.
Specs Of 2016 RAM 1500
Transmission wise, there will only be a 6 speed automatic that will come as standard with rear wheel drive. For a bit extra you will be able to select a four wheel drive system on 2016 RAM 1500 with front and rear lockable differentials. This is something you need to take if you plan to tow lots of weight and take this truck on off-road excursions. Keep in mind that if you choose diesel unit and all-wheel drive it will significantly increase the price of the model but still we think that it is worth the increase.
There are still no confirmations about the availability of the 2016 RAM 1500 model but we do expect it to be introduced during the spring of 2015th as a production ready concept version. Soon after this it will enter production so expect it to be available during the fall of the next year. After Ford presented their significantly upgraded F150 RAM will need to bring quite a bit more improvements to stay competitive and in game for top spots on the market.
