2016 Nissan Maxima Spy Photos And Release Date

While the current Maxima is a medium sized family car that looks quite dull, the 2016 Nissan Maxima is set to change all that. How? Well, to put it bluntly, its design will be based on that of the GTR which means it will look much more aggressive and it will probably be in a class of its own.

Even previous reports suggested that we will be getting fully redesigned model as a 2015th year model (we still hope that new generation will come as 2015th model) we are now getting that these big changes will happen for 2016th version. Furthermore we could hear that the 2016 Nissan Maxima model will also receive new engines as well as new transmissions, which should make it a bit more desirable.

Price

Changes will also be made to the interior which now will accommodate up to 5 passengers in perfect comfort and it will also be able to entertain them without a problem. Price for this new car hasn’t been announced just yet but we expect it to come at a reasonably $30,000 for the base model and to go up to 45.000$ for a fully equipped Maxima. This is in line with the currently offered model that starts from slightly above $31,000.

Let’s start with its chassis first. While the current car is a front wheel drive model, the 2016 model will most likely be a rear wheel driven car with the possibility of choosing all-wheel drive. This means that it will now compete with cars such as the C Class or the 3 Series from BMW. There is also a high possibility that the CVT gearbox will be switched in the favor of a 6 or 7 speed automatic in order to get full advantage of the new engine.

As we said before, it will be powered by a brand new engine. This will likely be either a 3.5 liter turbocharged V6 with around 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft or the 3.7 liter V6 from the 370Z. This will most likely be a 380 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque which is quite an improvement even over the one from the 370Z. Currently we have only one engine available and that is the 3.5 liter V6 that is naturally aspirated and pumps out respective 290 hp. Another big change in this segment could be the delivery of the hybrid powertrain and if this happens we could see the 2.5 liter inline four cylinder engine combined with electric motor.

Its design will be inspired by that of the GTR which means we’re in for a much more aggressive car. The front will now feature triangular headlights with LED and Xenon as standard, a chromed grille and also LED fog lights. The back of the car on the other hand will be quite similar to that of the Jaguar XF but with Nissan’s touch. The tail lights will be LED only while the rear view camera will be hidden under the bumper. The big news though comes in the form of a dual exhaust system as well as a fully panoramic roof which spans across the entire length of the roof. Without a doubt the 2016 Nissan Maxima will draw its inspiration from a Nissan Sport Sedan Concept.

Interior

Its interior will take design notes from the 370Z and from the GTR, so the dashboard will be focused towards the driver while the front and rear seats will now have better lateral support. Standard features will include a dual zone climate control system, leather upholstery as well as electric front and rear seats.

2016 Nissan Maxima Release Date

The launch date is set to be at the end of 2015, so there’s quite a bit of time left for changes. We would not mind to get the Nissan Sport Sedan Concept in almost identical form only badged as a 2016 Nissan Maxima but we are sure that there will be at least some changes for the production ready model.
