We expect that the 2016 Jeep Wrangler model will be offered to the market in the next few months. This will be the last model of the current generation Wrangler, and from the 2017 model year, the company will produce the fourth generation SUV’s with plenty of updates to this unique looking vehicle.
The Wrangler came as a replacement for the famous Jeep CJ, who was a direct descendant of the legendary Willy model. This vehicle continued to use the old body style on frame construction, but that will change in two years, due to the announced upgrading. While the CJ was a real off-road vehicle, the Wrangler does come with the CJ’s look, but it is a more family oriented model, with great off-road abilities, and also a high level of comfort inside. With this model Jeep managed to combine off-road capabilities with modern features that are demanded by most drivers.
As far as the exterior goes, the Wranglers look doesn’t change that often, and that’s why basically the unchanged look for the 2016 model year is expected. It will have its characteristic 7-slot grille, rounded headlights, and trapezoidal wheel flares. The last year’s model came with a few changes, including the Willy silhouettes in the windshield corners, lighting elements and masks. Some new design touches are also expected for the 2016 model year, but nothing major.
2016 Jeep Wrangler Release Date
When it comes to the interior, the new base model will inherit the new 8-speaker audio system from the current model and it will come as a 4-seater, while the Unlimited trim comes with 5 seats. Furthermore the 2016 Jeep Wrangler will also be equipped with tilt steering wheel, cloth upholstery and a manually retractable soft roof. The optional features will include: leather wrapped steering wheel and leather upholstery, heated front seats, power windows, doors and locks, as well as, Chrysler’s UConnect infotainment system, and 9-speaker Alpine sound system. All the connectivity features are optional, and you can choose from USB ports and Bluetooth connectivity.
Under the hood, the 2016 Jeep Wrangler will have a single engine option, and that is the 3.6 l V6 engine that is capable of delivering 285 hp. This engine can be paired with a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission, while the fuel economy is estimated at 17/21 mpg. The Unlimited trim level has slightly downgraded fuel economy ratings, and it is rated at 16/21 mpg. Like the current model, the new model will also come with part-time 4WD. Although it can’t be compared with some larger SUVs or trucks in this class, the 2016 Jeep Wrangler will, yet again, have great off-road capabilities which will allow you to tackle almost any obstacle.
There are also some rumors that say that the diesel option is going to join the engine lineup in 2016 Jeep Wrangler, but this has still not been officially confirmed. We give diesel option more chances to come with the next generation model and if Jeep wants to keep this model competitive it would be good for it to be offered with turbocharged gasoline unit.
Price Of 2016 Jeep Wrangler
The expectations for the price of the 2016 Jeep Wrangler are that it won’t be significantly different than the 2015 model’s price. The base version of this SUV can be bought for around $23,000, and the price goes up to around $36,000 for the highest package of options called Rubicon Hard Rock. As far as the release date is concerned, it is still unknown, but we expect the 2016 Jeep Wrangler to hit the market in the beginning of 2016, while the unveiling of the new model is expected at the end of this year.
