The 2016 Infiniti QX60 is a future model of relatively new mid-size crossover made by Nissan’s luxury division. It will come to the market with some changes but nothing revolutionary is expected from this model that already offers great looks and level of luxury.
This car debuted in 2011 and it was made for the 2012 model year. It was unveiled on 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show as the first three row crossover issued under this badge. In the first two years of its existence it was called JX60, and then it change its name in 2013. It shares platform with Nissan Murano and since 2013, Nissan Pathfinder was also based on the same platform. There’s not much information about 2016 Infiniti QX60 model available online, but we will try to predict how it is going to look, by taking into consideration last year’s characteristics, changes it undergone in last few years and rumors circling around.
Exterior of some previous models really looked great so we think there’s not too much space for a change. Last year’s QX60 came with trendy jagged roofline, large puckered grille and fenders that are gently swelling into a car body. It is the example of good implementation of sedan design elements into a crossover vehicle. Comparing to its main competition, Acura MDX this car looks stunningly well and when it comes to exterior styling it rules over most of the other models in its class. As soon as you take a look at this vehicle you will be able to see that it offers a lot of refinement and luxury in combination with power.
Redesigned 2016 Infiniti QX60
Interior of the 2016 Infiniti QX60 might come with some changes. Nissan is trying to make it as exclusive, elegant and luxurious as possible. Last year’s model was more family oriented and it was meant to transportation, and not for showing off. That was the main reason why it lacked some of the luxurious features Infiniti is famous for. In 2016 model year we expect some more natural and higher quality materials, plus some more elegant design. One of the good things about last year’s model was for it supportive seats and general comfort that ruled the cabin. On the other hand when it comes to interior features, the telematics display came with a bad layout, and it was really hard to navigate, so we hope that is going to be the number one thing that’s going to be changed in 2016. Slightly more driver oriented front segment is expected so it would offer better layout and easier access to settings.
In 2016 model year we shouldn’t expect some huge changes when it comes to performance. Although last year’s model came with some bigger mistakes, like handling that definitely wasn’t even close to sharp and bad CVT that pumped out all life out of 3.5 liter V6 engine. Last year’s V6 could produce 265 horsepower and 248 pound feet of torque, and we hope for at least a minor increase in the 2016 Infiniti QX60. Fuel economy will not change and again it will be able to return 20/26 mpg in city/highway drive conditions.
Second option when it comes to engine and powertrain is the hybrid model. Just like it was the case with previous year model the 2016 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid will be offered with 2.5 liter supercharged engine in combination with small electric motor of 15 kW that is getting power from Lithium Ion battery pack. Total power of the system is 250 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque which is quite enough for most drivers plus you can expect it to return 26/28 mpg in city/highway drive conditions.
The 2016 Infiniti QX60 is not going to be an inexpensive car. Last year’s model could be bought for $42,200 and we expect an increase of at least $500 in the 2016 model year. For a base version with all-wheel drive system this price goes up for $1,400 and same thing is expected for new version.
