The 2016 Hyundai Elantra is a future model of this Korean compact car that’s been in production since 1990. New model is probably going to be the sixth generation vehicle, which means that it is going to come with a lot of changes and improvements. Elantra got its name standardized in 2001, before that on some markets it was labeled as Lantra, since there is a Mitsubishi Magna Elante that has similar name. Its line-up also includes a coupe and hatchback models.
CEO of the Hyundai Motors North America, Dave Zuchovski announced that new model is going to be redesigned and that it will receive new ’’Audieque’’ styling. This short announcement rise many questions, first and the most logical is: What does ’’Audiesque’’ means? Zuchovski also said that the new model is going to receive a more European look. Although it falls under the compact car category, it is going to look much more elegant and premium than before, so for some people it might look like a car from richer segment, unlike the current Elantra model.
In the meantime, some spy photos taken on new Elantra’s test drives pop out online. It is obvious that the new model got much closer to Genesis, especially when it comes to its front fascia. It came with hexagon-shaped front grille, together with leaner headlights and daylights. From what we were able to see there is no doubt that the 2016 Hyundai Elantra looks will improve and that we will see one much nicer vehicle on the market.
2016 Hyundai Elantra Redesign
Since we know that Genesis is one class a head of this model, we wonder if 2016 Hyundai Elantra is going to follow this trend when it comes to interior features as well. If they decide to do that, it might bring some more premium materials inside this model’s cabin, like some quality leather upholstery for example. Leather could be offered with higher trim levels but for base and entry level version we are pretty sure it will not come with leather upholstery.
There weren’t any official information about the new engine. We hope for one definitely, but at this moment there’s no sign of it coming. 2016 Hyundai Elantra will probably come with the same set of engines with slighter improvement in mpg and CO2 emission. So expect the new model to come with the same old 1.8 liter four cylinder and with slightly increased power from last year’s 145 horsepower. All that with the base version of course, while Elantra Sport will come with 2.0 liter four cylinder unit that pumps out 173 hp.
Prices of the new model are still unavailable to the public. Since there were been some announcements about the new models look and everybody expects the generation switch, 2016 Hyundai Elantra will probably be more expensive than last year’s $17,250 for the base version. Without a doubt if Hyundai want’s this car to stay competitive they will not increase the price significantly. We do expect it to cost up to $18,000 for a base model but this will be confirmed at a later date.
Release Date Of 2016 Hyundai Elantra
New model is probably going to be released during the fall of 2015 after which we will see it available in dealerships. Since it is already in production and pretty much ready to be shown we do expect official introduction in the next few months. Few concept pictures could be offered and most likely those concepts will be quite close to the production version.
