The 2016 Chevrolet Colorado comes as a future model of this GM made pickup truck and will be offered as a carryover since the redesigned and fresh version was delivered as 2015th model. This is a relatively new compact pick-up truck and is one of the rare vehicles from this class that came out in last few decades.
It is made to compete with Ford Raptor and it came together with its GMC twin pick up labeled as GMC Canyon. It is made in Missouri, Brazil and Thailand and sold in US and the rest of the American continent, South East Asia and in Australia where it is labeled as Holden Colorado. First model came in 2004 and it replaced a few other pickup trucks made by GM and its world divisions like ISUZU. After 2012 this model had two year pause, until 2014 when it came back and became one of the most popular compact pick-ups worldwide.
There are only rumors on how Colorado’s exterior going to be changed for 2016 mode year and we think that there will be no significant changes. Rumors say it is going to come as more off road than ever, which is little bit contrary to the crossover trends that rule the industry at a time being plus it recently received significant change.
Release Date Of 2016 Chevrolet Colorado
Possibility is that GM is doing this to make it more competitive to the Ford Raptor, which comes with the top off road capability in this class. Better solution of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado and its off road capability improvement could be a special version but we will need to wait little longer to see what Chevrolet has planned. One of the things that are going to make this model more competitive is that all this though off-road muscle is going to be packed in regular compact pickup truck and it is going to be the lightest off-road capable pickup on the market.
When it comes to interior of 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, we know that there will be no major changes compared to 2015th version which was upgraded and significantly better than previous generation. We all know that though interiors with hard plastic and low quality cloth upholsteries are long gone, so we expect some nice door and dashboard trims, leather upholstery in higher trim levels, and some nice quality cloth in base version. From hi-tech features we can expect new MyLink infotainment interface with smartphone connectivity, Bluetooth and a few USB ports.
For the engine lineup we expect to see identical setup like for 2015th model. In 2016 GM is planning to add 2.8 liter turbodiesel engine to the lineup that pumps out 180 hp and 346 lb-ft of torque and to be honest it would be great to see it offered on the U.S. market for the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado. There is also a 2.5 liter turbocharged diesel unit that produces 150 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.
Entry level gasoline unit is the 2.5 liter I4 that pumps out 193 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Top of the line powertrain is going to be 3.6 liter V6, with 302 horsepower and 270 pound feet of torque. Both of these engines are going to be paired with six speed automatic transmission and are going to come with automatic grade breaking and tow and haul mode. Six speed manual transmission in 2016 Chevrolet Colorado is going to become available on rear wheel driver extended cab models only.
