2016 Cadillac CTS-V Review And Specs

Lately we were able to see few quite great vehicles from U.S. car makers that were able to push 600 and more hp. One of the latest is the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V and this model was officially introduced at the Detroit Auto Show and just by looking at it we can agree that it looks powerful.

Let’s start with the engine since this certainly is one of the most impressive parts about this vehicle. The monstrous 6.2 liter V8 with attached supercharger was taken directly from Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and for the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V it will be able to develop 640 hp and 630 pound-feet of torque. Specs like this are enough to propel this sedan to 200 miles per hour with ease and it becomes one of the fastest sedans available on the market with only few models that can compete with this setup.

Specs Of 2016 Cadillac CTS-V

One of the things that we really liked with previous versions of CTS-V vehicles was the availability of the manual transmission. This is something that we will miss but the introduction of the eight speed automatic will prove to be a great move. Power goes through the transmission to the Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires that provide huge amount of grip but still you will be burn through a set in no time if you are not careful with the throttle so keep in mind that those are quite expensive tires.

It is not possible for a standard model to harness all this power so the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V comes with heavy upgrades. Entire car’s structure has been modified slightly so that it offers about 25 percent higher stiffness while the magnetic ride control will be able to quickly adjust suspension to the road conditions providing optimal grip in all conditions. Body has been furthermore changed and now we are getting front splitter and diffuser while at the back there is a large spoiler. As a result we have much better aerodynamics and grip at higher speeds.

Features like Bose stereo, 4G LTE connectivity, large touch screen, touch sensitive controls, start stop button, Siri Eyes Free controls, automatic climate controls and similar are standard. To be sure that you will be always safe in your seat even at high speed cornering there are supportive Recaro seats that are also comfortable for daily driving but we need to add that this is performance oriented vehicle.

Price has not been announced yet so we can only guess what the cost of the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V will be. Previous year CTS-V coupe was priced at $69,900 and it was coupe, offered almost 100 hp less and simply will not be able to match all new sedan model. Because of this we do expect to see a decent increase on the price but still it will need to stay competitive. Something below $80,000 is quite possible but for the official info we will have to wait little bit longer as this model will be offered before the end of this year.

Things that we will miss about the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V is the fact it does not come with manual transmission but the paddle shift controlled automatic transmission will be a good replacement for this. We need to add that acceleration from 0 to 60 mph will be done in about 3.7 seconds and that top speed of 200 mph has been announced.
