The 2016 Buick Verano is a new model of famous Buick’s compact sedan vehicle and we already have few spy photos of it. It is made in Orion Township assembly plant in Michigan and since 1997 and the end of production of Buick Skylark is the first compact sedan made by this GM division.
It is based on GM Delta II platform together with Buick Excelle GT which is a version of this model produced in China and other related models like Opel Astra, Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Orlando and Opel Zafira. First Verano was made in 2011 and it was designed by highly competent engineer and designer duo assembled of Jim Federico and David Lyon. At the moment this model holds 20% of all Buick sales in United States and together with Encore and Enclave is a part of big comeback of this brand to American and Chinese market.
New model is going to come with a complete facelift. We know this since we saw spy photos of the future model, caught while testing in Germany. It is going to be based on the same platform so that means it is still going to come with some similar exterior features as Chevy Cruze, Opel Astra sedan etc. Although one of the things Verano doesn’t share with Astra are its exterior lines and curves. Verano is much bigger vehicle with longer wheelbase and popular Buick grille design and some lines borrowed from Buick LaCrosse. New model is going to keep it sleek, with some changes in the rear, like higher stance and redesigned taillights, which are going to be much prettier in 2016 model year.
2016 Buick Verano Review
We don’t expect some larger changes in the 2016 Buick Verano interior. We know that Buick is planning to keep some of the old interior features that were introduced between 2013 and 2015 model year, primarily IntelliLink infotainment system that comes with Text Message Alerts and free compatibility for Siri Eyes, Apple Siri extension that is enabling voice control of mobile iOS. Same goes for the Onstar 4G LTE that is able to turn your vehicle into a Wi-Fi hotspot with 3 GB downloads available, as part of its trial period.
Performance segment is also going to face some changes in 2016 model year. Old 2.4 liter Ecotec engine will most likely be replaced with shiny new 1.4 liter turbocharged four cylinder engine but still, there is a possibility that the 2.4 liter version will also come. Another option could be the 1.6 liter turbo charged engine but most power will be again offered with 2.0 liter turbo and expect it to offer more than 250 hp that is the current power rating.
We are still not sure is Buick going to introduce 2.0 turbodiesel engine as a high performance option. This engine is part of Chevy Cruze package at the moment and it is able to produce 151 horsepower and 264 pound feet of torque. It is quite full efficient considering the power its giving in return, since it gives 46 mpg while driving on the highway. The 2016 Buick Verano with diesel unit could be answer to German sedan offer that comes with few diesel units.
Price Of 2016 Buick Verano
Price of the 2016 Buick Verano is still unknown, same goes for the release date. Since Buick start testing this vehicle already, this might mean that the new model is going to arrive much earlier than we expect, for example in the fall of 2015. We hope the price is not going to change much and that it will stay in the region of $23,000 to $24,000 for a base version.
