The Audi A4 is one of the best selling cars for the German manufacturer and it is certainly one of its better cars because it can easily combine two very different things, a good price and a very good quality interior. Good sale results are expected from 2016 Audi A4 that will certainly continue this successful story.
However, both in the US and in Europe sale results are jeopardized and it started to lose ground against its smaller brother, the A3 Sedan which is a similarly priced car that offers pretty much the same thing. Because of that Audi is going to release a new model, firstly on the US market and roughly a year later in Europe. This 2016 Audi A4 is going to make use of Audi’s brand new MLB II platform which is pretty much the same one used on the A6 as well as the new Q7. This will make use of new materials as well as a larger quantity of aluminum, so most people expect this car to drop at least 200 pounds in weight, or even more on some models. Reduced weight will improve efficiency, performances and handling making it one even better choice.
There is still no word on the official release date but considering all the other Audi models are already out, the 2016 Audi A4 is likely going to follow shortly. In fact, we expect a late 2015 release with the showroom availability starting in the first or second quarters of 2016. The base price is likely going to be the biggest surprise because unlike most other manufacturers, Audi is going to increase the cost of their A4 because it was just too close to the A3 Sedan. In fact, from the current $36,000 it is expected to go up to as much as $38,000.
2016 Audi A4 Release Date
Don’t worry too much though because the 2016 Audi A4 won’t just cost more, but it will also offer more. Audi wants their best-selling sedan to become the best car in its class, so they are going to give it new base interior trimmings. These are likely going to include things such as triple zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, Audi’s brand new Android based infotainment system which has been kindly shared by VW as well as a lot of extras which are going to increase the price of the car but these will allow the buyer to customize the car to their own liking.
Interior Of 2016 Audi A4
The 2016 Audi A4 is still in test phase and we were able to see few spy images of the redesigned model that has been heavily camouflaged. This goes both for interior and exterior so we will have to wait little bit longer to get more details on the interior and features it will bring.
The exterior has yet to surface but a few people managed to get spy shots of a 2016 Audi A4 prototype testing and we must say that even though the car is camouflaged, we’re impressed. In size it appears to be quite similar to the older model, but the design seems to be inspired by the Prologue concept car with a more angular design for the grille, slimmer headlights as well as a more aggressive look, both front and back.
Under the hood of the 2016 Audi A4 we are probably going to see the biggest surprise yet from this modern car manufacturer. Audi is going to use on their 2.0 liter turbocharged engine the Miller cycle, so the engine will only be capable of 186 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque, less than what the current model is making. However, this technology will allow the engine to get similar fuel consumption to a diesel. In Europe it has already been rated at 47 MPG on average and considering BMW’s own 316i model is only capable of 39 MPG, we do expect great things from Audi. The higher end versions such as the S4 or even the diesel models will carry over the engines from the current generation but the RS4 will ditch the current V8 in the favor of a 3.0 liter twin-turbocharged V6 which could provide as much as 450 horsepower, allowing them to give a worthy rival to the all winning BMW M3.
