Corvette is one of the most legendary sports cars ever made. I remember choosing it all the time when playing Need for Speed and Gran Tourismo in the end of the 90’s. This model always offered a lot of power and similar situation will be with the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray that has been announced recently.
Originally this model has been produced by Chevrolet division and launched in 1953. First Corvette was constructed by Harley Earl and it was presented on one of the leading TV car shows of the 50’s, GM Motorama. Although first model was made in Flint, Michigan, its production later shifted to Kentucky, state that’s now proud of their sports car production, it is an official sports car of Kentucky state. It was named after navy term for kind of small maneuverable war ship.
During its history Corvette won a lot of races and racing championships, and not only that, it was also used as a Indianapolis 500 pace car (safety car that opens a race and leads other drivers during the caution race period) for 12 times. 2014 model of Chevrolet Corvette received many updates and it changed its name to Corvette Stingray.
2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
Changes that were implemented to 2014 model will be also offered on the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and those include more angular exterior styling among other things. It has anew rouged aluminum body, which proved very well on the crash tests. New styling of seventh generation Corvette features low hood, steep windshield and combination of smooth and sharp curves and creases. We were always getting aggressive looks and it is the same story again, it certainly is backed up with the power.
Interior of the new model received many changes. This is the model that’s going to bring Corvette to the hi-tech age. The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray comes with removable top, 8 inch LCD touch screen display, dual zone climate control, MyLink infotainment system, Bluetooth phone connection and 9 speaker Bose sound system, all that comes as part of the basic package. Other than that it features some top of the line materials and very supportive seats that come with leather upholstery in a standard package, and can be heated and ventilated as an additional option. Unlike other sports cars new Corvette also offers plenty of cargo space.
Last year’s Vette came with powerful 6,2 liter V8 that could deliver 455 horsepower. Since it is hard to get anything better than that, we can only hope for the slight increase in power and acceleration, but this V8 beast is here to stay in 2015 and who knows for how long. It also delivers 460 pound feet of torque, plus the horsepower can reach 460 too, if you choose the right performance oriented exhaust system. Believe it or not this engine has relatively good fuel efficiency, it can reach 17 mpg when driving in the city conditions and 29 mpg on the highway.
2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Price And Release Date
Price for the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray hasn’t been announced yet and same goes for the release date. We think that new Vette will probably reach the shops in the beginning of 2015 so we can expect some flashy promotion in the end of this year. When it comes to price it will probably be similar to last year’s $53,000 for the base coupe model while the convertible costs $58,000.
